Five Unique Modern Wedding Venues in Dallas
Sleek lines, angular shapes, and neutral palettes are the building blocks of the sophisticated, modern wedding venue, and Dallas, Texas is quickly becoming home to modern wedding venues that are the modern bride’s dream come true. While Dallas may be known for its more traditional wedding venues (a la The Adolphus Hotel or the Dallas Arboretum), many modern brides are increasingly looking for something less mahogany and floral and more geometric and seamless. From the retro pop art stylings of Warhol to the rectangular stylings of Mondrian, Dallas offers modern wedding venues to fit each bride’s aesthetic.
Here are five unique modern wedding venues that Dallas has to offer:
The NYLO Hotel- Plano
8201 Preston Road, Plano
Think New York City loft meets Danish Hygge house. Located just north of Dallas near the Shops at Legacy with easy access via the North Dallas Tollway, the NYLO Hotel in Plano combines Euro modern style with an urban appeal. This boutique hotel offers unique spaces for both the wedding ceremony and reception. Indoor spaces such as the stylish library and Westside Pavilion offer neutral colors with geometrical designs that allow the bride to make the space her own. The outdoor lounge area, called The Courtyard, offers an infinity pool and ultramodern concrete fireplace to provide the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony with modern style. And, not to mention, The Courtyard can even be covered with a tent to create a more intimate affair, bringing the outside- inside. From its Danish-inspired egg chairs (believe me, the modern bride will want a photo sitting in one of these!) to its exposed brick walls and stainless steel fixtures, The NYLO Hotel’s motto “Stay Unique” says it all about this modern wedding venue.
The Pads at Aloft Downtown Dallas Hotel
1033 Young Street, Dallas
Think 1924 Railway Station (which this space formerly was!) meets a contemporary Berlin hotel. Located in the historic district of downtown Dallas, The Pads offers a wedding ceremony and reception venue that combines historic charm in a modern urban setting. The Pads has three event rooms from which to choose, and each space uses clean lines, and simple, yet modern, light fixtures along with original exposed beams and brick walls to tastefully provide a blank canvas for the modern bride’s dream wedding. The Pads is definitely not for the traditional bride but is the modern bride’s wedding venue dream come true!
The Joule Hotel
1530 Main Street, Dallas
Think 19020s bank building (the old National Bank Building of Dallas to be exact!) meets a luxury, European resort. Located in historic downtown Dallas, The Joule is the quintessence of luxury that blends modern elegance with touches of Gothic influence. Beginning with the vintage Gothic archway at the entrance, The Joule is the true definition of unique. Brides will not want to miss out on a bridal party pic in front of the enormous gears on display inside the hotel lobby that take us back to the industrial age. For the reception or ceremony, The Joule offers spectacular ballrooms with modern, angular chandeliers (Don’t worry, modern bride! No fleur-de-lis crystals here!) and a rooftop space with a lap pool that literally hangs over the edge, seeming to defy gravity. This hotel is truly a conglomeration of all things modern with a museum-quality art collection throughout the hotel with works by the likes of Andy Warhol and Richard Phillips accompanied by Italian woodwork cut into sleek, modern lines. The Joule Hotel is a modern wedding venue where old world truly meets new world.
Lofty Spaces
816 Montgomery St., Dallas
Think industrial warehouse meets modernized, German loft. Located in up-and-coming south Dallas, Lofty Spaces offers a selection of spaces—inside and outside. A renovated, industrial building with a view to die for, Lofty Spaces is the perfect location for the modern bride who likes a trendy, urban space that she can transform into her dream, modern wedding. Inside, Lofty Spaces offers exposed beams, brick walls and concrete floors throughout—the perfect canvas for the modern wedding. Outside, Lofty Spaces offers a city landscape of brick walls and garage doors that make interesting photo ops for the bridal party—not to mention the SPECATULAR view of the Dallas skyline that provides an interesting architectural backdrop for the modern wedding—especially at night when the buildings are all lit up! Every bride will want a photo on the rooftop of Lofty Spaces with the skyline in the background to capture her special moment.
Off the Grid
1723 Kelly Avenue, Dallas
Think former Power and Light Substation (which this building actually was!) meets a renovated train station. Located in a similar location as Lofty Spaces (and owned by the same company), Off the Grid takes the modern bride literally “off the grid” with its unassuming location amidst the old, industrial buildings of downtown Dallas. Like Lofty Spaces, Off the Grid offers the same modern staples of exposed beams, red brick walls, and concrete floors but differs from Lofty Spaces with its use of gray, metallic railroad columns throughout. The space also offers stunning views of the Dallas skyline that can be seen through several large windows, creating a stunning backdrop for both wedding ceremony and reception. In fact, the modern bride does not have to stress too much about decorating this space because the skyline speaks for itself! And, of course, just like at Lofty Spaces, the modern bride will want pics on the rooftop with the Dallas skyline in the background. This space may be a bit difficult to find—but that’s all part of the charm of going “off the grid.”
